International Forum on Crystal Engineering and Smart Manufacturing Held

The International Forum on Crystal Engineering and Smart Manufacturing was successfully held recently. The forum was jointly organized by Tianjin Science and Technology Association, National Industrial Crystallographic Engineering Research Center of Tianjin University, National Joint Research Center of Crystallography Science and Engineering, Tianjin Chemical Collaborative Innovation Center.

More than 200 experts, scholars and 150 graduate students participated in the forum. They came from 95 universities, enterprises, institutions and research institutes in 16 countries and regions including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Australia and Hong Kong. The content covers medicine, chemicals, materials, biology, environment, energy and many other fields. Participants were combined with various units around the seven topics of “Intelligent Crystallization Discussion”, “Crystal Product Design”, “Crystallization Process Simulation”, “New Crystallization Technology”, “Crystal Equipment Enlargement Design”, and “College-University-Institute Cooperation Platform Construction”,. Related work carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions on academic and industrialization technologies.

On the morning of May 23, 2018, Professor Yin Qiuxiang, the co-chairman of the conference, presided over the opening ceremony. Yuan Yingjin, vice president of Tianjin University, Bai Jingmei, vice chairman of Tianjin Science and Technology Association, and Professor Wang Jingkang, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Tianjin University professor, respectively delivered speeches.

During the conference, Professor Jesse Zhu from the University of Western Ontario in Canada, Academician Qian Feng from East China University of Science and Technology, Academician Chen Jianfeng from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Academician Chen Jun from Nankai University, Researcher Lü Jian from Xian Modern Chemistry Institute, Professor Joachim Ulrich from Harley-Wittenberg University, Germany , Professor Victor C. Yang of the University of Michigan, Prof. Sohrab Rohani of the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and 9 distinguished scientists of the METTLER TOLEDO company, Dr. Henry Dubina, made reports; 35 well-known domestic and foreign experts, professors and young scholars were invited to give academic reports; conference proceedings collected 104 articles, 40 academic posters. The forum aims to focus on and strengthen the internationalization of crystalline science and technology and its application in industrialization, and further promote collaborative innovation and cooperation in production, learning, and research.

The forum promoted the development of crystal engineering and smart manufacturing in China, and also enhanced the influence of crystalline science in the world, laying the foundation for the development of green industrial chemistry and engineering and intelligent manufacturing. At the same time, the joint participation of domestic and foreign experts fully embodies international exchanges and cooperation and provides a good platform and new ideas for promoting innovative achievements in crystal science and intelligent manufacturing.
