The AIChE Delegation Visited School of Chemical Engineering and Technology

On May 9th, the executive director of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Ms. C. Wispelwey June, Chief Operating Officer Ms. Bette Lawler, Mr. Shawn Xiao and Ms Jackie Liu visited to School of Chemical Engineering and Technology. Dean Ma Xinbin, associate dean Gong Jinlong, associate dean Xia Shuqian, and Chem-E-Car Competition instructor Liu Chunjiang attended the meeting.

Gong Jinlong made a detailed overview of the school to the guests, including the case of teaching staff construction, personnel training, scientific research, international exchanges and so on. Associate dean Xia Shuqian briefly introduced the work of Institute of Chemical Technology on Chem-E-Car Competition, such as Tianjin University held Chem-E-Car race in China as authorized Chinese Chemical Society. Dean Ma Xinbin discussed with the visiting guests on Chem-E-Car activities as well as the related issues of education and talents cultivation, hoping both sides can cooperate and exchange in further aspects in the future. Ms. Jun C. Wispelwey introduced in detail based on AIChE organizations, educational resources, academic and student activities, and she gave emphasis to its role in promoting the organization of student activities in chemical talents. Besides, she showed a relevant wonderful video of Chem-E-Car race.

After the meeting, Ms. June C. Wispelwey made a special report named The Future of the Chemical Engineering Profession for the students. Students of Chemical Engineering participated actively and pay great attention to the contents of the report enthusiastically.The meeting enhanced cooperation and exchanges between TJU Chemical Engineers and AIChE and it also plays an important role in promoting talents training and international cooperation of school of Chemical Engineering.
