Tianjin Key Laboratory of Membrane Science and Desalination Technology

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Membrane Science and Desalination Technology, founded in 2008, consist of over 20 faculty members and 200 graduate students. Membrane materials and membrane preparation, membrane process engineering, seawater desalination engineering are three major research fields of the laboratory. We have been long committed to the study of high-performance membranes, such as high-performance gas separation membrane and reverse osmosis membrane, and have obtained some achievements including the preparation of CO2separation membranes with high permselectivity and reverse osmosis membranes with high anti-fouling property and chlorine resistant property. We have also done a lot of work about membrane process engineering, such as waste water treatment engineering and membrane process integration, the most representative researches of which include the development of technologies for water purification and ecological restoration of urban riverway and the integration of ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. Seawater desalination engineering has always been our focus and we have made advances in equipment and technology research, such as the development of novel energy recovery devices, membrane distillation technology and multi-effect distillation. Over the past three years(2012-2014), the laboratory has undertaken over 70 national, provincial , enterprise projects, published over 150 papers(indexed by SCI),and gotten over 50 patents.
